Framingham State University required a 4-story addition on Hemenway Hall to include 68,000 sq.ft. of Organic, Inorganic, Analytical and Physical Chemistry teaching laboratories. It is currently the largest Green Fume Hood installation to date with 49 fume hoods featuring ErLab’s Green Fume Hood Filtration Technology.
Framingham State University is located about 20 miles West of Boston, MA. The project team included Ellenzweig, an international recognized architectural firm, headquartered in Boston, MA as the project architect and lab planner. Ellenzweig worked alongside with Barr and Barr, a construction management/general contracting firm headquarter in New York City, NY, who served as the general contractor on the project from their local office in Framingham, MA. Northeast Interior Systems, a full service dealer for CiF, located in Pawtucket, RI served as the subcontractor for the laboratory casework and fume hoods.
CiF Lab Solutions provided Premium Grade E-Line Series wood laboratory casework, Laboratory Utility Tables, and state of the art Air Master Systems Green Fume Hoods. The project budget for laboratory casework and equipment was $2,500,000.
The goal for CiF was to provide a safe working environment, while offering significant energy savings to help Framingham State University in their pursuit of a LEED Silver certification.
