Designing and renovating a 66,000 square foot laboratory facility to relocate three North American business units and their corresponding labs is a challenge…to do it while planning for future changes, within budget and in 6 months from initial design discussions… is an accomplishment.
“CiF Lab Solutions proved to be the right partner for our job”, stated Sensient Flavors & Fragrances Director of Engineering Operations, Keith Lindfelt. “CiF was an active participant during design and installation. Understanding the constraints of the project, CiF was proactive in providing a detailed timeline and sufficient samples to the project team to ensure key decisions were made in a timely manner”.
The project design team for the Hoffman Estates location outside of Chicago, that included Epstein an international architectural firm, headquartered in Chicago as the Project Architect and SRA Inc., headquartered in Boca Raton, FL as the laboratory planner; worked alongside Pepper Construction who served as the projects construction management firm. “CiF performed professionally in regards to quality laboratory furniture and equipment solutions; striving to keep with the aggressive schedule and within the GMP budget” said SRA Principal, Steven Rosenstein.
CiF provided Premium Grade wood laboratory casework, fume hoods, flexible table solutions, and a complete equipment package. These product solutions were adapted to fit Sensient’s current and future laboratory needs.
Lindfelt went on to say, “Now that our labs are occupied, the other benefits of the CiF system are beginning to be realized. Many of our lab staff are new employees and did not have an opportunity to participate in the design process. But, they are quickly realizing that they can relocate lab benches and mechanical work stations to meet the specific needs of their business. Although we required a consistent and professional looking system, we needed to ensure we had enough flexibility in the design to address the needs of three different clients. CiF’s design ensured we achieved all of the project’s objectives”.
