MOUNT SINAI HOSPITAL

Project Summary

On floors 5 and 6 of the Mount Sinai Hospital, mobility and flexibility were key design components of the laboratory bench system. The design team’s goal was to create something “out of the box” from the conventional flexible solutions that are currently available in the healthcare industry. The CiF custom bench system provided is a re-configurable system combing height adjustable wood tables with adjustable overhead shelving. Gas, air and vacuum service are provided through demount-able service columns, and all services are connected using quick disconnect fittings so the columns can be removed from the workstations to provide the lab with more open spaces. Electrical and data connections are made on the demount-able power bar, while the benches are electrically energized using a series of plug and play fittings behind the privacy panel below each of the tables. Storage is provided by using mobile cabinets that are set in place under each table.
