Sudbury Neutrino Observation Lab

Project Summary

The Sudbury Neutrino Observation Laboratory (SNOLAB) is uniquely located at an abandoned mine site in Northern Ontario with its physics lab located 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) below the surface. SNOLAB focuses on sub-atomic, neutrino and dark matter physics. CiF was challenged with designing a flexible and durable laboratory space that meets current and future needs while staying within their tight budget. To accommodate flexibility CiF provided both fixed and height adjustable lab tables with counter mounted adaptable shelving. In addition CiF provided M-Line MDF casework that has a catalyzed vinyl finish, giving it superior chemical resistance in addition to a cost savings that’s hard to beat when compared to wood veneers or metal.
